The international conference entitled “Navigating Complexity And Change In The Balkans”, hosted by the Turkish-German University in Istanbul on December 5 and 6, 2024, brought together well-known names from the academic world.

The conference, organized in collaboration with the Turkish-German University, Tirana New York University and Ibn Haldun University, focused on the geopolitical, economic and social dynamics of the Balkans.

The conference started with welcoming speeches by Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Rector of the Turkish-German University, Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, Rector of Tirana New York University and Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan, Rector of Ibn Haldun University. The opening speech was given by the Deputy Foreign Minister and Director of EU Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay.

Prof. Dr. John Loughlin from the University of Cambridge and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan from the Turkish National Defense University gave inspiring lectures on the role of the Balkans in the global transformation process and the local geopolitical orientations.

In the five thematic panels of the event, the participants, who are active in the academic and political fields of the Balkans, discussed security, law, economy and future perspectives.
