Conference on “Navigating the Complex and Evolving Structure of the Balkans” Commences with Opening Ceremony

The international conference entitled “Navigating the Complex and Evolving Structure of the Balkans”, organized in collaboration with our university, Ibn Haldun University, and Tirana New York University, initiated with an opening program held on December 5, 2024. The event was attended by Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey; our Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız; the Rector of Ibn Haldun University, Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan; and the Rector of Tirana New York University, Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş. Hosted by our university, the conference will continue on December 5-6, 2024, bringing together academics and experts from both domestic and international spheres to provide participants with an in-depth analysis of the transformation processes in the Balkans.
In his address to the attendees, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, stated,
“This event, organized to address the geopolitical, economic, and social transformation processes of a strategic region like the Balkans, aspires to go beyond being a mere academic gathering by offering concrete contributions at regional and international levels.” He extended his gratitude to all stakeholders involved in organizing the conference.
Our Rector further noted, “I believe the insights and ideas gained from this platform will have lasting impacts on regional cooperation and academic development. With the valuable contributions of the participants, I am confident we will gain a broader perspective, and these collaborations will significantly contribute to future academic endeavours.”
Spanning two days, the conference will address key topics such as political stability, economic integration, social transformation, and regional cooperation. It will host sessions aimed at examining the social, economic, and political changes in the Balkans from various perspectives. In-depth discussions will focus on the region’s past, present, and future, providing participants with current research and analyses in the field.
The event, attended by academics, researchers, policymakers, and professionals from related disciplines, will also offer opportunities to foster academic collaborations and expand international academic networks.
