Althea Team Visited Our Rector

The Althea team, in which our sophomore students of Molecular Biotechnology Department Dilay Yalçın, Esra Karadeli and Burak Bilgin, and Üsküdar University Molecular Biology and Genetics students Tuba Şevik and Selin Akdemir visited our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız on 25th November 2022. 

Our students from Molecular Biotechnology Department are proud of being the champion at the Global Rare Diseases Genetic Treatment Project Competition -RaDiChal (Rare Disease Challenge), where undergraduate and graduate students meet to design genetic treatments for people with rare diseases and to create social awareness.

The Althea team, in which sophomore students of Molecular Biotechnology Dilay Yalçın, Esra Karadeli and Burak Bilgin, along with Üsküdar University Molecular Biology and Genetics students Tuba Şevik and Selin Akdemir, participated in the competition with the CRISPR-based genetic therapy project they planned by developing a treatment for Wu Syndrome ranked first among 18 teams participating. The awards were presented to the Althea team at the RaDiChal'22 Final Ceremony held at Üsküdar University on October 15, 2022. In the competition, which includes undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, for the first time, sophomore students were awarded the championship. We congratulate our students who won the best gene therapy training award, the best poster award, the first and final first (gold) medals and awards among the teams working with Wu Syndrome, and wish them continued success.
